Of course, just one day devoted to expressing gratuity for the lady who brought you into this world is simply not enough. No bunch of flowers or box of chocolates could portray the love we have for our mums, so it’s no secret that finding the perfect Mother’s Day gift seems IMPOSSIBLE. Look no further, it doesn’t have to be impossible and it is much simpler than you might first think because we can all make a little space in our schedule for our mums.

Time is the best gift you can give, so why not spend Mothering Sunday treating your mum to lunch at one of the hottest spots in Birmingham?

I’ve put together the top 5 places in Birmingham for you to wine and dine the leading lady in your life- even if you’re on a budget!

The Lost & Found, Birmingham City Centre

‘When mum met Hettie’- Each of the lost and found branches focus on a Victorian professor of some sort, in this case the Birmingham branch follows the story of Victorian explorer and professor of Botany, Hettie. G Watson, hence the Botanical theme woven into the restaurant’s décor.

Located in the heart of the city centre this grand Victorian building offers you an experience into Lost and Found’s fictional world of professors and their hideaways. For a more upmarket treat look for the Mother’s Day menu to find 3 courses for £29.95, including a handcrafted ‘Ms Hettie G. Watson’ cocktail made up of Gin, rose water and lavender syrup.

Browns Bar and Brasserie, Birmingham City Centre (Bullring)

Be witness to all the Bull Ring has to offer by visiting Browns for one of their infamous Sunday Roasts while enjoying a live music, exclusively for Mother’s Day. Based in Saint Martin’s square, you can make a whole day trip to the City Centre treating mum to presents from any of the endless number of shops available, then refuelling and relaxing with a roast from £13.50 or one of the Mother’s Day specials.

Browns also offers a number of afternoon tea menus, for a lighter option.

Little Blackwood, Moseley

A little gem hidden more south of the City centre, Little Blackwood is located in Mosely and will be celebrating its first Birthday in the week running up to Mother’s Day. Despite its novice status, Little Blackwood’s Michelin star-quality menu is perfect to make Mother’s Day feel that little bit extra special. They are offering a 3 course Sunday lunch for £25 and a glass of bubbly for every Mum.


If you’re looking to spoil your mum the whole weekend, Little Blackwood’s Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea special might suit you more.

Take a trip to this unique spot on Saturday 30th to indulge in Afternoon Tea (with a glass of bubbly) for £20!

Piccolino, Brindley Place

This quaint establishment will take you to Italy not only with its delicious dishes, but with the intricacy of its décor. You will certainly earn top brownie points by taking mum away to this Italian hotspot- with an all-weather outdoor terrace, its Birmingham location (and forcast for that matter) become a distant memory when you set foot in this stylish and classy dining room. 

Although known for its Sunday Roasts, Picolino’s menu is vast offering a variety of classic Italian dishes, as well as seasonal specials menu, there truly is something for everybody.

Believe it or not, this trip to Italy will be one of the more affordable options with 2 courses at £18.50 and 3 courses £23.50.

Marco Pierre White, The Cube Birmingham

Dining at a Marco Pierre White restaurant is a treat any day of the week, but for Mother’s Day they’ve really gone to town. The skyline restaurant can be found at the top of The Cube building by the Mailbox, looking at the city from a high-up perspective makes this all the more appealing, don’t you think?

The price to pay for this view and the first-class menu comes at £35.00 per person.

Mother’s Day at Marco Pierre White doesn’t stop just there, they have a competition to win a bunch of white roses for mum and options to buy vouchers for a dining experience as a gift.
